2013 May 29

Delphos native Alyssa Gable has announced that she will continue her academic and athletic careers at Heidelberg University. While enrolled at Heidelberg, Gable plans to major in psychology.

Gable will join eighth-year head coach Nick Spell and the soccer team in the fall of 2013.

While at Delphos St. John's High Scool, Gable was inducted into the National Honors Society and graduated with honors.

Gable has enjoyed success in soccer and track and field for the Blue Jays. Alyssa was named honorable mention all-district while serving as team captain. In addition, she received the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches' Association Academic Excellence Award and the team Coaches' Award as a senior.

Alyssa is the daughter of Maribeth and Todd Gable of Delphos.

Heidelberg has enjoyed a long and storied history in women's soccer. The tradition has continued under the direction of Spell, who returns a youthful roster for the 2013 season.

Spell and his staff are committed to the academic success of the student-athletes, which align with the ideals of NCAA Division III Athletics.

Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 32 majors, 29 minors and nine pre-professional programs, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, as well as master's degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music. Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, Heidelberg has been ranked for 25 consecutive years as one of the top colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report.
