Callie Jay to play volleyball at Heidelberg University

Girard native Callie Jay has announced that she will continue her academic and athletic careers at Heidelberg University. While enrolled at Heidelberg, Jay plans to major in biology, with a concentration in pre-medicine.

Jay will join 14-year head coach Jason Miller and the volleyball team in the fall of 2013.

While at Girard High School, she , a four-year honor roll member, was inducted into the National Honor Society, serving as its president this year..

Jay has enjoyed success in volleyball and softball for the Indians. Jay was a four-time All-District and All-Conference selection. In addition, she was named as Girard's most valuable player in 2012.

Callie is the daughter of Jeff and Darice Jay of Girard.

Heidelberg volleyball has risen to unprecedented heights during Miller's tenure as head coach. The team has claimed three regular season and one tournament title in the highly competitive Ohio Athletic Conferece. In 2012, Heidelberg volleyball made its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III volleyball regional tournament.

In the classroom, Heidelberg volleyball continues to excel. The 2012 team boasted six Academic All-OAC honorees and had the highest team grade point average of Heidelberg's fall athletic teams.
