Darcianne Allen Performing in Heidelberg University Christmas Concert

2012 Dec 7

Heidelberg University's Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Greg Ramsdell, will be among the featured ensembles at this weekend's "A Heidelberg Christmas at the Ritz" annual holiday concert. Darcianne Allen, a junior from Marysville, Ohio, is performing this year with the choir.

The choir will be joined by the University-Community Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Paul Mayhew, and soloists Kimberly States, Katherine Calcamuggio and Christopher Scholl to perform beloved arias and choruses from Handel's "Messiah."

The concert is being staged again this year at the historic Ritz Theatre for the Performing Arts in downtown Tiffin.

Allen, who is singing the vocal soprano part, is one of 36 members of the Concert Choir, the premiere vocal ensemble at Heidelberg. Open to all Heidelberg students, regardless of major, the choir rehearses three times each week and performs more than 15 concerts each year, including a domestic tour.

Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 36 courses of study in 19 major fields of concentration, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, as well as master's degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music. Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, Heidelberg has been ranked for 25 consecutive years as one of the top colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report.
