Elizabeth Volz to play cross country and track at Heidelberg University

Lexington native Elizabeth Volz has announced that she will continue her academic and athletic careers at Heidelberg University. While enrolled at Heidelberg, Volz plans to major in early childhood education and intervention specialist.

Volz will join fourth-year head coach Briana Hess and the cross country and track team in the fall of 2013.

While at Lexington Local High School, Volz was an academic All-Ohio student-athlete and a member of the orchestra.

Elizabeth has enjoyed success in cross country and track for the Minutemen. Volz was the captain of the cross country team that finished second in the state. In addition, she was a two-time All-OCC First Team selection.

Volz is the daughter of Shawn and Tricia Volz of Lexington.

Heidelberg has enjoyed a long and storied history in cross country and track. The tradition has continued under the direct of Hess, who once held the American record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Shook and her staff are committed to the ideals of NCAA Division III Athletics.
