2013 May 29

Elyria native Emily Mandoke has announced that she will continue her academic and athletic careers at Heidelberg University. While enrolled at Heidelberg, Mandoke plans to major in athletic training and pursue a minor in art.

Mandoke will join 14-year head coach Jason Miller and the volleyball team in the fall of 2013.

While at Elyria High School, Mandoke was named academic all-country, district and conference.

Mandoke has enjoyed success in volleyball for the Pioneers. Emily was named District III honorable mention and was selected for the District III All-Star match. In addition, she was named first team all-conference and All-Lorain County as a senior.

Emily is the daughter of Carl and Nancy Mandoke of Elyria.

Heidelberg volleyball has risen to unprecedented heights during Miller's tenure as head coach. The team has claimed three regular season and one tournament title in the highly competitive Ohio Athletic Conferece. In 2012, Heidelberg volleyball made its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III volleyball regional tournament.

In the classroom, Heidelberg volleyball continues to excel. The 2012 team boasted six Academic All-OAC honorees and had the highest team grade point average of Heidelberg's fall athletic teams.

Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 32 majors, 29 minors and nine pre-professional programs, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, as well as master's degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music. Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, Heidelberg has been ranked for 25 consecutive years as one of the top colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report.
