Grant Bass part of Heidelberg University's Model UN delegation

2014 Apr 9

Grant Bass of Elkhart, IN, a sophomore majoring in Political Science, is traveling to San Francisco this week to participate in the Model UN of the Far West Conference as part of Heidelberg University's delegation.

Heidelberg has participated in the Model UN conference for the past 16 years. This year, 40 other colleges and universities and about 400-500 students will join Heidelberg for the Model UN. The simulation is designed to broaden the students' understanding of the principles and means by which international relations are achieved and maintained. The program helps students develop a greater understanding of the nations of the world, the relations between them, their policies, and the nature of their work in the United Nations.

'Berg students have spent the semester learning about the United Nations in a political science course taught by Dr. Marc O'Reilly. They then then delve more deeply into the history and positions of one or more countries. Participation in the conference is the culmination of their classroom experience.
