Holly Oberlin, a sophomore from Akron, Ohio, is being inducted into Tau Mu Sigma, the music honorary society at Heidelberg University, on Sunday, Nov. 4.
Tau Mu Sigma is an organization that emphasizes musical achievement and good fellowship. Each year, members of Heidelberg's music faculty, along with current members of Tau Mu Sigma, nominate worthy music students who have demonstrated excellent musical ability and scholastic achievement. To be selected, students must have a strong GPA in music as well as general education courses.
This year's inductees were honored in a special concert, at which each performed a brief piece as part of the induction ceremony.
Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 36 courses of study in 19 major fields of concentration, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, as well as master's degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music.
