Jessica Kidd serving on Heidelberg U. Student Alumni Association

2012 Aug 3

It's never too late to start thinking about life beyond Heidelberg University. Jessica Kidd from North Ridgeville, Ohio, has been selected to serve as a member of the Student Alumni Council (SAA) for the 2012-13 academic year.

Kidd, a junior majoring in psychology, is among a group of 10 students getting a jump start on the responsibilities of becoming Heidelberg alumni. As members of the SAA, the students serve as liaisons between future students, current students, alumni, donors, friends and the Office of Institutional Advancement & University Relations, and promote student philanthropy across campus.

As members of SAA, the students have taken the initial step in solidifying their lifelong relationship with Heidelberg, said Ashley Helmstetter, director of annual giving and alumni engagement and the advisor to SAA.

The group, in its second full year of operation on Heidelberg's campus, meets regularly to plan events and fundraisers that bring awareness to current students about becoming philanthropic after graduation. Each graduating class will determine how to utilize their funds. In addition, SAA members participate in alumni networking events and other major events on campus.

Their motto is "Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow."

Heidelberg, founded in 1850, offers 36 courses of study in 19 major fields of concentration, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, as well as master's degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music.
