Makenzie Dietrich cast in Heidelberg production of 'Avenue Q'

2014 Oct 22

Heidelberg University senior Makenzie Dietrich of Napoleon, Ohio, has been cast in the upcoming production of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy "Avenue Q."

"Avenue Q" is the perfect combination of humans and puppets - part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. In this tale of 20-somethings learning how to live and love in the Big Apple, "Avenue Q" tells the story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. Although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Dietrich, who is majoring in Music and Communication & Theatre Arts, has been cast as one of the Bad Idea Bears.

Show dates are Oct. 23-26 in Gundlach Theatre. Chris Tucci, associate professor of theatre, is directing.

Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 30 majors, 30 minors and 10 pre-professional programs, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music degrees, as well as master's degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music. Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, Heidelberg has been ranked for 27 consecutive years as one of the top colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report.
