Mikaela Weldy to play volleyball at Heidelberg University

Centerburg native Mikaela Weldy has announced that she will continue her academic and athletic careers at Heidelberg University. While enrolled at Heidelberg, Weldy plans to major in one of over 30 majors offered by the school.

Weldy will join 14-year head coach Jason Miller and the volleyball team in the fall of 2013.

While at Centerburg High School, she was on the Principal's List for three years and secretary of the Student Council for two years..

Weldy has enjoyed success in volleyball, basketball and track and field for the Trojans. Weldy was second team All-MBC this season.. In addition, she received the team's Leadership Award.

Mikaela is the daughter of Kris and Charlotte Weldy of Centerburg.

Heidelberg volleyball has risen to unprecedented heights during Miller's tenure as head coach. The team has claimed three regular season and one tournament title in the highly competitive Ohio Athletic Conferece. In 2012, Heidelberg volleyball made its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III volleyball regional tournament.

In the classroom, Heidelberg volleyball continues to excel. The 2012 team boasted six Academic All-OAC honorees and had the highest team grade point average of Heidelberg's fall athletic teams.

Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 32 majors, 29 minors and nine pre-professional programs, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, as well as master's degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music.
